Beyond the persona: Eminent women of Victoria - Caroline Williams
15 May - 13 June
Beyond the persona: Eminent women of Victoria celebrates the achievements of Victorian women through life-size portraits of 12 significant, contemporary Victorian women, painted by Melbourne artist Caroline Williams.
With a focus on history painting, politics and portraiture the art of Caroline Williams questions the nature of conventions, memory and authority as she addresses psychological and social issues, including colonialism and feminism. The women depicted have contributed to the civic and business life of Victoria through their work in the arts, academia, science and social welfare.
