Created through an experimental studio process, Ryan McGennisken’s exhibition Brightest Grime analyses the act and outcomes of contemporary abstract painting.

Restricting himself to basic materials; high flow acrylic house paint, aerosols and hessian, McGennisken’s intent is to defy composition, gesture and preconceived ideas. Favouring imperfection and seeking unforeseen beauty, a painting is never ‘finished’, the process ends when a potential outcome comes to light, leaving the work in a state of flux.
