Catherine Bainbridge

Catherine Bainbridge is an Australian artist whose work, over a long career, has been both figurative and abstract. She has exhibited six times with various concepts in drawing, painting, design, and twice collaboratively with Daniel Keene (playwright), once in film, exploring the interplay between script and image.

She spent a decade teaching in Melbourne schools and institutions in primary, secondary and tertiary education followed by 40 years running her own teaching practice in the wider community teaching children, adolescents and adults. She has run studios for artists with intellectual disabilities and open workshops for artists grappling with mental health issues.

Catherine now divides her time between her studios in Richmond and East Gippsland, balancing her studio practice with mentoring emerging artists and supporting artists for whom the art world is challenging.
