LRG KIDS: Art After School with Rodney Forbes

4pm to 5pm
Art After School is a series of four weekly one-hour workshops led by the local artist Rodney Forbes. In these sessions, school-age children will have the opportunity to listen to an artist talk about their works and their inspiration. Through a range of practical activities developed in conversation with the artist, participants will be encouraged to engage deeply with artworks and ideas and share their thoughts and responses in a welcoming, creative, and participatory environment.
The Art After School program aims to engage young audiences in the gallery and involve them in relevant discussions about the arts and culture.
Week One (Wednesday 13 October 4—5pm): Surrealist Group Drawing
An intuitive group drawing activity used by the surrealist artist to generate new ideas.
Week Two (Wednesday 20 October 4—5pm): Mutual Portrait Mask Making
Learn about mask making and make a swap portrait mask
Week Three (Wednesday 27 October 4—5pm): Life size wildlife self portrait
Make a life-size self-portrait as your favourite animal
Week Four: (Wednesday 3 November 4—5pm): Mapmaking
Make a personalised artwork using map-making methodologies.
This program is recommended for kids aged 9-13. Bookings are free but essential as spaces are limited. One booking for Art After School is for a total of four workshops.
