MORNING, NOON AND NIGHT
Selected works from the Cbus Collection of Australian Art
13 July to 13 October 2019
Gallery 1 & 2
A major exhibition of artworks from the Cbus Collection of Australian Art featuring thirty significant artists.
This is a special opportunity to see artworks, some rarely displayed from impressionist, modern and post-modern periods of Australian art.
In Morning, Noon and Night artists depict different times of day, sometimes as a record of atmosphere and sometimes as a metaphor for existential questions.
The exhibition includes artworks by Howard Arkley, Stephen Bush, Samuel Byrne, Noel Counihan, Robert Dickerson, David Davies, Walter Ebatarinja, Ivor Francis, Leonard French, Weaver Hawkins, Kristin Headlam, Robert Hunter, Emily Kngwarreye, Norman Lindsay, William McInnes, Kenneth MacQueen, Mandy Martin, Jan Nelson, Victor O’Connor, John Perceval, Stieg Persson, Margaret Preston, Lloyd Rees, Alison Rehfisch, Bernard Sachs, Michael Shannon, Jeffrey Smart, Eveline Syme, Jessie Traill and Fred Williams.
From 1990 to 2007, Cbus Superannuation Fund invested approximately $2 million on acquiring approximately 300 Aboriginal, colonial and representative artworks of the twentieth century, as advised by Dr Joseph Brown to create a comprehensive collection of Australian Art. The collection is managed by Latrobe Regional Gallery and artworks are loaned to many other regional galleries across Victoria and Tasmania, making this important collection accessible to members of the Fund and to the general public.
