Hayden Jackson

Dick Bishop Memorial Prize Winner 2016

27 August to 2 October 2016

Gallery 6

Hayden Jackson gathers forms and shapes within his work, creating non-representational, loosely painted portraits. Jackson is interested in notions of masculinity and social beliefs around this subject. His deconstructed paintings reference male stereotypes and social expectations, at the same time exploring the qualities of paint and its versatility as a medium.

The Dick Bishop Memorial Prize is an ongoing recognition to Richard (Dick) Bishop’s (1929-2004) commitment to supporting emerging artists. Throughout his life, Dick Bishop provided arts education, support and encouragement to many members of our community and assisted them to fulfill their creative potential. The Dick Bishop Memorial Prize is awarded to an emerging Gippsland artist.
