Coinciding with the Morwell International Rose Garden Festival, Latrobe Regional Gallery presents an installation by Melbourne based artist Jessie Pittard and an interactive virtual map of the rose garden featuring short stories and poetry by local writers.

Working primarily with ceramics and printmaking, Pittard’s work is often adorned with intricately illustrative line work. With an interest in indigenous Australian flora, Pittard incorporates this into the imagery in her work, referencing the Australian landscape around her and exploring the connection between flora and the location in which it grows.

Seen through the front windows of the gallery, layers of paper cut-outs float in the space like segments of illustrations taken from story books, forming an imaginary garden. In this installation, Pittard had embedded details connected to the Morwell Centenary Rose Garden, combining stories of both the past and present.
