PRESENTIMENT
Manfred Krautschneider

24 February to 22 April 2018
Gallery 6

The works shown in Presentiment began when Manfred Krautschneider noticed modern art motifs in the subtle distortions of streetscapes reflected in imperfect surfaces.

Sitting on the border between recognition and abstraction, these photographs transform contemporary life into transcendent images. As Krautschneider states “For a time I presented successively more extensive distortions, and one could be mistaken in thinking they are abstract paintings at first glance. They also modify and fragment space, hinting at our own insubstantiality, and allowing a psycho-social reading, conjuring up fears of loss, conflict and destruction.”

This exhibition showcases a selection of works from Manfred’s ongoing series ‘Suburban Reflections’, which he has been working on for over a decade.
